Our Work
Lake Restoration
Bringing African lakes back to life.
From Nairobi's choked urban lakes to Mara's silted reservoirs, our flagship lake program revives polluted, encroached water bodies through scientific restoration. Each project follows a 5-phase model: assess, desilt, contour, replant, hand over.
59
lakes restored across East Africa
Outcomes to date
- 59 lakes rejuvenated since 2019
- Tyavakanahalli-style: 12.8-acre lake holding 152M litres
- Avg. groundwater table up 3.8 m within 12 months
- Bird & fish biodiversity index +2.7× post-restoration
Our approach
01
Bathymetric survey
Full 3D profile, sediment sampling and inflow analysis.
02
Desilting + contouring
Mechanical desilt with sediment reused for embankments.
03
Riparian replanting
200m native buffer with 12–18 species filters runoff.
04
Community handover
10-year stewardship plan with monitoring dashboards.
