Restoring lakes, rivers and groundwater for climate-resilient communities.
From dryland sand dams in northern Kenya to lake rejuvenation in the Rift Valley, our water program restores natural hydrology and builds storage where rainfall is becoming erratic. We combine bathymetric mapping, community labor and biological filtration to bring water bodies back to life.
Outcomes to date
- 59 lakes, ponds and tanks rejuvenated
- 5.2 billion litres of water-holding capacity added
- +4.3 m average groundwater rebound in 18 months
- 240,000 people with restored water access
Our approach
Scientific restoration
Bathymetric surveys, water-quality testing and inflow modeling before any dig.
Community labor
Local crews trained and paid fairly — restoration becomes livelihood.
Biological filtration
Constructed wetlands and native riparian belts handle nutrient load.
Long-term stewardship
Water User Associations take ownership with 10-year management plans.
